More than bean counters.

Don’t get us wrong: we love CPAs. But if they’ve got a goal in mind, it’s hammering out your tax returns, keeping you compliant, and minimizing your tax burden.

With our fixed subscription model, you’re free to bounce ideas off us, clarify your long-term goals, and hone a strategy to achieve them, all without the surprise invoice at the end of the month.

FAQs

iT Tax Advisors is a tax compliance, consulting and advisory firm built specifically for IT service businesses. Our core services include tax compliance (business and personal returns), proactive tax planning, quarterly tax strategy sessions, year-end reviews, notice responses, and R&D tax credit studies. We also provide transaction-aligned tax advisory, helping owners structure their business, compensation, and tax position with a future sale or acquisition in mind. We work alongside your existing advisors or serve as your primary tax relationship, depending on what fits your situation.

Most general practice CPAs file returns and respond to questions. We lead with strategy. That means quarterly planning sessions to catch opportunities before year-end, year-end reviews before the books close, and direct access to our team between sessions so nothing catches you off guard. For IT business owners thinking about growth, acquisition, or an eventual exit, working with a tax advisor who also understands how your decisions affect business value is a meaningful advantage. If you want a tax relationship that drives strategy, not just compliance, that is exactly what we are built for.

Proactive is the only way we operate. Waiting until tax season to think about taxes is how businesses overpay. Our quarterly planning sessions are designed to surface opportunities and risks before they become decisions under pressure — whether that is timing income and deductions, structuring owner compensation, evaluating entity structure, or planning around a significant business event. Year-end reviews give us a final look before the books close. Between sessions, you have direct access to our team for questions as they come up. The goal is that nothing catches you off guard.

We offer five membership tiers designed to scale with the complexity of your business, all structured as fixed monthly subscriptions so there are no surprise invoices. Each engagement is customized and priced appropriately to the complexity and volume of services requested, however, each tier has a general price expectation and list of included services. Silver (approx. $750/month) is where most growing IT businesses start. It includes full-service tax planning, one business return, up to two personal or trust returns, up to three states, and ongoing consulting. Gold (approx. $1,500/month) adds quarterly planning sessions, year-end reviews, notice responses, two business returns, up to four personal or trust returns, up to five states, and a simple gift tax return. Platinum (approx. $3,000/month) adds an annual valuation and coverage for up to ten states. Diamond (approx. $5,000/month) is our most comprehensive tier — full-service planning, strategy, compliance, method changes, estate planning, and unlimited states. Bronze (approx. $250/month) is also available as a clean compliance option for smaller or less complex operators. Add-on services are available outside of membership for items like estate plans, year-end projections, or additional consultations.

You do not need to wait. Mid-year transitions are common, and in many cases starting sooner is better as it gives us time to identify planning opportunities before year-end rather than inheriting a situation we cannot change. We handle the transition process and coordinate with your prior preparer if needed to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. If you are considering a switch, the best time to have that conversation is now.

Our primary focus is IT service providers and MSPs. Clients benefit from working with a team that already understands their business model, service delivery structure, and the tax considerations unique to the industry. That said, we work with clients across the country. Our engagements are conducted remotely, so geography is not a barrier. If you are in or adjacent to the IT services space and want a CPA who speaks your language, let’s talk.

Tax return preparation is included within each membership tier up to the limits described above. Returns outside those limits or returns requiring additional complexity such as multi-state filings beyond the included states or consolidated returns, are scoped separately. We are transparent about what is and is not included before you engage, so there are no surprises at filing time.

Yes. R&D credit studies are one of our specialized service offerings, and it is an area where many IT businesses are leaving meaningful money on the table. The credit applies more broadly than most owners realize: software development, custom integrations, and process improvement work can all qualify. Because this topic has significant depth, we have a dedicated FAQ sheet specifically covering the R&D credit, including how it works, what qualifies, the study process, and what the credit is typically worth for MSPs. Visit the R&D page to learn more.

Yes. Entity structure is one of the most consequential tax decisions a business owner makes, and it is something we evaluate for every client. The right structure depends on your goals: a C Corp can offer meaningful tax saving advantages for owners with a long enough runway and significant growth expectations, but it introduces double taxation considerations that matter in other scenarios. An S Corp or LLC may be better suited for pass-through owners focused on current distributions. We do not give a generic answer. We look at your specific situation, your growth trajectory, and what a future transaction or succession might look like, and then make a recommendation we can support with numbers.

Yes. Amending prior year returns is a regular part of our work — whether to correct errors, claim missed deductions, or capture credits such as the R&D tax credit for years that are still open. Federal returns are generally amendable for three years from the original filing deadline. State windows vary. If you believe prior years were not optimized, an amended return review is often worth the effort.

Onboarding starts with a comprehensive intake conversation to understand your business model, ownership structure, current entity setup, recent financials, and any transactions or events on the horizon. From there we review prior returns, flag anything that looks like it was left on the table and build a planning calendar around your fiscal year. Most clients feel like we are fully up to speed within the first 30 to 60 days. The goal is to move from reactive to proactive as quickly as possible.

If you run an IT service business or MSP, you are who we built this for. That specialization is intentional. We understand your business model, your service delivery structure, and the tax considerations unique to the industry, which means less time getting us up to speed and more time working on your actual situation.

Our sweet spot is owners who want more than a once-a-year filing relationship — whether that means quarterly planning sessions, entity structure guidance, transaction prep, or R&D credit work. That said, if straightforward compliance is all you need right now, we can do that too. Not every business is ready for full strategic engagement, and we would rather meet you where you are than oversell a service tier that does not fit.

Where we are probably not the right match: businesses outside the IT and managed services space who are looking for a generalist firm. Our focus is narrow by design, and that focus is what makes us useful to the clients we serve.

Your tax decisions directly affect the financial metrics that drive your valuation — how you classify expenses, how you normalize owner compensation, how you structure ownership, and how you position the business heading into a transaction. iT Tax Advisors is part of the iTValuations family, which means those two conversations are always happening together, not in separate silos. Owners who pair proactive tax planning with ongoing valuation tracking through VaaS always have both a forward-looking and backward-looking view of their business. That combination is hard to replicate anywhere else.

CPAs that get you, and get you where you’re going.

Sticking with traditional iT Tax Advisors services will keep your taxes clean, but if they aren’t purpose-built to your size and strategy, you could end up paying more without meeting all that you need. With iT Tax Advisors, iTValuations offers a personalized CPA service partnership designed to help you arrive at your long-term destination, all while minimizing your tax burden and keeping you compliant.
